We inherited a great responsibility from Nicki and Mark, the fathers of Juuls, who were the first to bring Rasta and Reggae culture to Malta. The word "reggae" was coined in Jamaica to identify a "ragged" style of dance music, that still had its roots in New Orleans rhythm 'n' blues.
However, it soon acquired the lament-like style of chanting and emphasized the syncopated beat. Reggae also made explicit the relationship with the underworld of the "Rastafarians", adepts of a millenary African faith. When it emerged in the late 60s, it came as a cultural bombshell not only to Jamaica but the whole world. It has influenced societies throughout the world, contributing to the development of new counterculture movements, particularly in Europe.
And yes, Juuls is the longest-running example of Malta's reggae roots!

And Juuls never stopped, we organized a lot of reggae events and boat parties and more! We range across all related genres: Dancehall, Drum 'n Bass, Afrobeat, and Dubstep.
Recently, we also opened our dancefloor to other Latin and Caribbean-inspired musical genres: like Cumbia, Funk, Latin electronic, Latin American folk rhythms, Tribal downtempo deep electronica, Soul, and Hip Hop.
